Need-to-know Info about Hurricane Harvey

With Hurricane Harvey leaving Houston shaken yet ready to rebuild, we are receiving many inquiries regarding flood insurance, and we want to give you some insight.

As many of you know, no home insurance will cover rising flood water. FEMA, under NFIP (National Flood Insurance Program) is the only organization that offers flood insurance, and we are happy to help you submit an application.

If your home is located in a "preferred" zone, which is determined by FEMA, there are maximum coverage levels of $250,000 for the dwelling, and $100,000 for personal items such as furniture, clothing, appliances, etc... The annual premium for residence is $450, and an additional $250 for investment homes.

If your home is not in a "preferred" zone, your premium will be higher, but we can help you adjust your coverage.

There is a standard waiting period of 30 days for all applications to take effect.

We have already begun working with clients who contacted us when the flood waters reached their homes, and FEMA adjusters have already begun contacting them for home inspections to begin their settlement process.

Please do not hesitate to call us if you have any questions or would like more information. We're your neighborhood insurance agency and wanting nothing more than to serve our city's residents during this tragic event. The Legacy Insurance Group is #TexasStrong.
